YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – After adding four runs in the third inning, the University of North Georgia softball team held off a late rally from Young Harris (13-25, 5-13 PBC) to take a 7-4 victory over the Mountain Lions. YHC managed two runs in the fifth and seventh inning, but three runs in the sixth inning for the Nighthawks made the difference.
Delaney Heaberlin (W, 11-0) earned the win after rolling through the first four innings before allowing two runs, only one earned, in the bottom of the fifth. The UNG bats ripped off two different scoring frenzies as
Jolie Lester,
Hannah Forehand and
Gracie Mixson led the Nighthawks lineup at the plate.
All three Nighthawks finished with three hits as
Hannah Forehand continued to mount up her RBI season total, driving in three runs and kicking off the scoring in both of UNG's big innings. Lester scored twice, both on Forehand hits, while Mixson tacked on an RBI of her own.
Sydney Blair,
Georgia Blair and
Madison Simmons finished with one RBI to add to the North Georgia run support.
