Preview: Elysa Walter Sets Sights on NCAA Rifle Championships

AKRON, Ohio – University of North Georgia freshman rifle student-athlete Elysa Walter will compete in the NCAA Rifle Championships tomorrow (Mar. 11) in James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron, Ohio. She becomes just the second Nighthawk in school history to qualify joining Kimberlee Nettles (36th) in 2021.

A total of 48 competitors will compete in the championships, with 40 competitors coming from the top eight teams selected. The remaining eight competitors were selected based on the scores submitted from the designated qualifier.

Walters, the SoCon's Freshman of the Year, is one of seven individual qualifiers in air rifle due to three shooters qualifying in both disciplines, and she will be joined by Angeline Henry (Memphis), Parker Haydin (Navy), Marleigh Duncan (Navy), Ben Salas (NC State), Addy Burrow (Georgia Southern) and Gabriela Zych (Memphis).

Fans can follow Walters' action courtesy of both live stats and live video links at UNGAthletics.com.
