DAHLONEGA – The No. 9 University of North Georgia women's tennis team swept Tusculum 7-0 in non-conference women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park. The Nighthawks dropped one set in singles to the Pioneers (3-3) to earn their third shutout in four matches this spring.
North Georgia won the doubles point by claiming the first two matches, then earned straight-set victories in the first three completed singles matches to clinch the victory.
Johanna Lippert and Viktorie Wojcikova got off to a hot start, rolling through their doubles match and earning a 6-0 victory. Angelina Linnikova and Svetlana Teterina followed, taking a 6-2 victory of their own to secure the doubles victory.
Lippert, Wojcikova, Linnikova and Teterina continued their momentum, with each Nighthawk earning a straight-set victory to help seal the victory. Ashley Moinard added another straight-set victory for UNG, ending with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Anna Markvartova made it another 7-0 victory with her three-set comeback victory. Markvartova won 4-6, 6-4, 11-9, outlasting Tusculum's Paulina Loretz in the third singles flight.

North Georgia will be participating in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Kearney, Nebraska next weekend for the first time in program history. The Nighthawks will open up the trip with a match against No. 8 University of Central Oklahoma on Friday (Feb. 24) at 11:00 a.m.
