LAKELAND, Fla. — Beginning their weekend at the FSC Mocs Thanksgiving Classic, the No. 10 University of North Georgia men's basketball team fell 78-74 to Saint Leo. The Lions used a 50% shooting night from beyond the arc to come away with the victory.
Saint Leo's Greyson Pritzl made his mark, shooting 6-7 from three and pouring in 25 points off the bench to help the Lions earn an upset victory.
Frank Champion led the Nighthawks in scoring, finishing with 24 points and ten rebounds, adding eight assists.
Eric Jones finished with 13 points, leading the team in blocks with five while shooting 6-9 from the field.
AJ White finished with 11, rounding out the double-digit scorers as he led the team in steals with five.
The Lions held a seven-point advantage at the halftime break, with the Nighthawks finding a defensive answer in the second but came up short in the comeback attempt.
Next for UNG is host Florida Southern in a Saturday (Nov. 25) contest set for 7:30 p.m. Florida Southern fell to Catawba in their first game at the Thanksgiving Classic and holds a record of 4-2.
