AIKEN, S.C — A second straight shutout led to a second straight victory, as the University of North Georgia men's soccer team defeated the Pacers of USC Aiken 2-0, led by two first half goals.
The scoring came quickly for the Nighthawks as
Michael Walsh scored a 14th minute goal with an assist from
Aram Lara. It was Walsh's fifth goal of the season, the second most on the team this year.
Max Garnett added another just four minutes later, scoring his fifth goal of the season in the 18th minute to move into a tie for second most on the team and give North Georgia a 2-0 lead.
The UNG back line, along with goalkeeper
Hazel Ley, held strong for the remainder of the game as they secured the sixth victory of the season and moved to 6-5-2 on the season.
A momentous test awaits, as the Lakers of Clayton State arrive to the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park on Wednesday (Oct. 18) at 5:00 p.m. CSU holds a 10-1 record and is ranked sixth in NCAA Division II.
