CARROLTON, Ga. – The University of North Georgia women's cross country team won the team title at the UWG Coach Gary Wilson Invitational. This was the second consecutive win for the Nighthawks on the season and the second consecutive win at the UWG Coach Gary Wilson Invitational, defending last year's title.
Emily McBride finished in third place, recording a time of 19:21.19. McBride's finish was just seven seconds before a host of Nighthawks came across the finish line to solidify the team title for North Georgia. Karmen LeRoy, Val Angel and Claire Mills finished fourth, fifth and sixth for the Nighthawks.
A second group of Nighthawks crossed the finish line together in eighth, ninth, tenth and 11th, with Anna Chasteen, Devin Helms, Emery Ryan and Sydney Bolyard giving UNG eight of the first 11 runners to cross the line.
Dalton State's Kathryn Vradenburgh won the individual title finishing with a time of 18:42.63, Dalton State, West Georgia and Oxford College followed,and Clark Atlanta finished fifth, rounding out the top five teams.
The Nighthawks will next run at the Florida State XC Invitational on Friday, Oct. 7 in Tallahassee, Fla.
