DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia women's soccer team defeated Young Harris, 7-1, at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park in a Battle of Blood Mountain competition. Natalie Maguire's hat trick highlighted a flurry of goals by the Nighthawks as they improve to 4-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in Peach Belt Conference play.

After a slow start, North Georgia found the back of the goal seven times. UNG and Young Harris remained scoreless until the 30th minute when Megan Dumond opened the flood gates and gave the Nighthawks the lead by way of a Maysoon El-Shami assist.

Dumond was a part of a trio of Nighthawks to score their first goal of the season. Katey Derkay coming off a two-assist game against Georgia Southwestern, scored in the 79th minute, and Keara Collins added the final dagger in the 82nd minute using an assist from Derkay. The goal by Collins was the first collegiate goal of her career.

The most significant contribution for UNG came from Maguire, who recorded the first hat trick of the season for the Nighthawks, scoring her second, third, and fourth goals of the season. Arielle Aronoff and Maguire became a dynamic duo for the Nighthawks, with Aronoff getting two assists on the night, both on Maguire goals.

Alex Clark was one of five Nighthawks to find the back of the net, getting an assist from Maguire. The goal was Clark's third of the season.

The UNG defense continued to play in top form, and the Nighthawk's shutout streak ended with UNG allowing a late penalty to make the game 5-1.
