No. 8 Women's Tennis Sees Season Close With 4-2 Loss to No. 6 Columbus State

Box Score COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 8 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fell in the round of 32 to top-seeded and No. 6 Columbus State Saturday, 4-2.

The Cougars earned the doubles point, but not without a fight as Vaishali Jorge and Johanna Lippert won on the top line, 6-0, before a pair of 6-2 decisions went in favor of Columbus State.

CSU kept the momentum, going up 3-0 with wins on the first and second lines in straight sets before North Georgia started to mount a comeback. Anna Markvartova won at No. 3 in three sets, 7-5, 0-6, 6-2, while Cibeles Zuddy took a three set win on the sixth line, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. With North Georgia closing in, Columbus State won a three set match at No. 4 to secure the spot in the final 16.

North Georgia finishes the season 15-5, making their fifth straight Southeast Regional appearance.
