ROME, Ga. - The No. 16 University of North Georgia softball team scored early and got a one-hitter from the Nighthawk pitching staff in the circle to secure a 9-0 win over Shorter Thursday afternoon in six innings.
North Georgia got started in the first inning with a
Madison Simmons RBI single that put the Nighthawks in front. UNG poured it on in the second inning, scoring six in the frame on a Hawk error, a pair of two RBI singles from
Madi Perry and
Olivia Sinquefield and another RBI single from Simmons to take a 7-0 lead.
Sinquefield brought home a third run in the sixth on a RBI double before
Hannah Forehand hit a sacrifice fly to score the game's final run.

Kristen Davis (9-2) scattered a hit and five walks across five innings of work, striking out five along the way.
Tybee Denton came in in the sixth and finished the game with a walk and a strikeout.
- Perry finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and two RBI. Sinquefield and Simmons were each 2-for-4, while
Jolie Lester was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
