COLUMBUS, Ga. - Playing No. 1 Columbus State for a third time this season, the No. 7 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell in the Peach Belt semifinals Saturday by a score of 4-0.
Ryan Gaskin and
Joaquin Benoit won their doubles match on the top line, 6-2, but the Cougars took the doubles point, winning 6-1 and 6-3 in the other two matches to take the advantage.
Columbus State swept through singles play, winning on the first, sixth and third lines in order to claim the win. When play stopped,
Cole Brainard was up a set, while
Daniel Ostap was in a third set.
North Georgia will now await Tuesday's selection show to see if they earn an at-large bid into the Southeast Regional. The Nighthawks were ranked third in the latest ranking.
