DAHLONEGA - The No. 13 University of North Georgia women's tennis team survived an upset bid from No. 27 AUM Saturday, winning 4-3 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
North Georgia breezed through doubles, winning all three matches while surrendering just three points to take the early 1-0 lead. The Warhawks answered back, taking the first singles match to finish to tie the match at 1-1.
Johanna Lippert got North Georgia back in the lead with a 6-4, 6-4 win on the second line before
Svetlana Teterina got UNG to within a point of clinching with a 6-2, 6-2 win on the fourth line. AUM responded, winning the Nos. 1 and 5 singles matches, setting up the No. 6 match as the decider.
Cibeles Zuddy won the match with a 6-4, 7-5 score to win the match for UNG.
North Georgia will next take to the courts at Georgia Southwestern on April 15.
