MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 18 University of North Georgia women's tennis team claimed a 5-2 win on the road Sunday over Georgia College to stay perfect in league play.
North Georgia earned the doubles point with a 6-3 win by
Cibeles Zuddy and
Anna Markvartova on the third line and
Johanna Lippert and
Svetlana Teterina on the second line, 6-4, to take the early advantage.
Vaishali Jorge got singles started in a big way with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win on the top line, followed closely behind by Zuddy at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 win. After the Bobcats got on the board with a win at No. 4, Rafaella Villanueva clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win on the sixth line. Lippert earned a 6-4, 7-6 win on the third line to get the final Nighthawk point.
North Georgia will be back in action on Saturday, March 19, at home against Lander. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
