GREENVILLE, S.C. - University of North Georgia men's basketball player
Frank Champion was named to the D2CCA All-Region Second Team Friday.
Champion became the first men's basketball player since Ishmael Hollis in the 2013-14 season to earn first-team All-Conference honors for North Georgia. The freshman from Lithonia, Georgia, averaged 16.9 points per contest and 8.2 boards per outing over the season, starting in all 28 games for the Nighthawks. He shot over 52 percent from the floor and had nine double-doubles in his second season at North Georgia.
Champion was joined on the team by three other Peach Belt players with Flagler's Jaizec Lottie being named Region Player of the Year. Augusta's Tyshaun Crawford also earned first team honors, while Georgia College's Jordan Thomas being named to the second team alongside Champion.
