ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The No. 4 University of North Georgia softball team lost both ends of Wednesday's doubleheader against Eckerd in extra innings.

GAME 1 - EC 9, UNG 8 (9 inn.)
Eckerd struck first, pushing two runs across in the first on a RBI single, but North Georgia answered in the fifth, tying the game on a Haley Cummings sacrifice fly and a Gracie Mixson RBI single. The Tritons retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a solo homer, 3-2, but UNG took the lead with a three spot in the sixth off a Jaycie Michael double, a Jolie Lester double and an Olivia Sinquefield single.

EC scored five in the bottom of the sixth to force UNG to put up two in the seventh to extend the game. Michael and Sinquefield both singled with the bases loaded to tie the game in the final inning of regulation before Eckerd scored in the ninth on an infield single.

GAME 2 - EC 4, UNG 3 (10 inn.)
North Georgia scratched the scoreboard first with a single up the middle from Madi Perry in the second to take an early 1-0 lead. Eckerd tied the game in the fourth on a Nighthawk error, but UNG answered with a pair of runs on RBI singles from Mixson and Georgia Blair.
