Sutton Claims Second PBC Player of the Week Honor in 2021-22

AUGUSTA, Ga. - University of North Georgia women's basketball player Julianne Sutton was named this week's Peach Belt Player of the Week, marking the second time this season she has earned the award.

Sutton averaged a double-double as the No. 11 Nighthawks went 2-0 on the week to remain atop the PBC standings. The senior from Flowery Branch, Georgia, averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 59 percent from the field. She scored 22 points with 14 rebounds in a key win against Columbus State, hitting 2-of-2 three-pointers to go with five assists. She opened the week with 10 points and six rebounds in only 20 minutes of action against Young Harris, hitting 4-for-5 from the floor including her only three-point attempt.

For the week she averaged 4.0 assists and hit all three of her free throws. Sutton is currently third in the PBC in scoring, fourth in rebounding, second in field goal percentage, seventh in blocks and 15th in assists. She also surpassed 1000 career rebounds this week, becoming the first UNG player in the NCAA era to be a member of both the 2000 point and 1000 rebound clubs.

North Georgia can earn at least a share of the PBC regular season championship and the No. 1 seed Wednesday as they travel to Augusta. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
