GREENWOOD, S.C. - The University of North Georgia men's basketball team saw the offense go cold in the second half as they fell to Lander Saturday afternoon, 63-56.
North Georgia opened the game on a 19-3 run over the first 7:04 and led 23-5 with 11:23 to go in the first half before the Bearcats clawed back into the game, going on an 12-0 run to get within six. Lander cut the lead to a single point by halftime, leading by a basket on two occasions in the period.
Lander had the opening basket of the second period, but the Nighthawks answered with a 12-3 run that gave UNG a nine point lead at 44-35 with 14:41 to play. The Bearcats again answered, taking the lead at the 10:53 mark on a three pointer. The teams traded leads before Lander took it for good with 3:55 to play. UNG trailed by a single point with just over a minute to go before the Bearcats scored the last six points of the game.
