Nighthawks Take Second at PBC Championships

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of North Georgia cross country team finished second in the Peach Belt Conference championship race as Val Angel led North Georgia across the line, finishing in fifth overall with a time of 18:55.3.

Karmen LeRoy finished second for UNG, recording a time of 19:06.9, good for seventh overall in the race. Claire Mills was third for North Georgia with a time of 19:20.6, finishing in 11th. Emily McBride finished just behind Mills in 13th with a time of 19:27.5.

Emery Ryan edged Anna Chasteen for the fifth scoring spot as the duo finished 17th and 18th overall with times of 19:39.0 and 19:39.3, respectively. 

The top 15 runners were named All-Conference provided they were among the top seven runners on their team. By virtue of their finish, Angel, LeRoy, Mills and McBride each earned PBC All-Conference honors, while LeRoy also earned a spot on the league's All-Sportsmanship team.

The runner-up finish marks the ninth consecutive year that the Nighthawks have held one of the top two spots in the championship race.

North Georgia will race in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional in Wingate, N.C. in two weeks on Nov. 19.
