UNG Finishes Middle of the Pack at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of North Georgia women's cross country team finished 15th at the Florida State XC Invitational. The tournament featured 30 teams; nine of those teams at the Division-I level. UNG finished ahead of three of the nine D-I teams in the event.

Karmen LeRoy led the Nighthawks in the event finishing with a time of 18:56.5. LeRoy was followed by graduate transfer Val Angel who came across the finish line with a time of 18:59.0. Emily McBride rounded out North Georgia's top three with a time of 19:05.9. Claire Mills finished right behind her with a time of 19:06.1. Emery Ryan was the final scorer to cross the line for North Georgia at 19:29.4.

Devin Helms and Sydney Bolyard finished in sixth, and seventh for UNG finished .1 seconds apart from each other. Audrey Gleason and Anna Chasteen were the final two Nighthawks to cross the line for UNG.

Miami (Fla.) runner Daphnee Lavassas won the individual title finishing with a time of 17:10.9. LSU won the team event with a final score of 37, securing three of the top five finishers. 

The Nighthawks will next run at the 12th Annual Wingate Bulldog Stampede in Wingate, N.C.
