Nighthawks Win at Wingate for Third Victory

WINGATE, N.C. ­– The University of North Georgia women's cross country team won the team title at the 12th Annual Wingate Bulldog Stampede. The win marks the third win for the Nighthawks on the season in just their fourth race. Karmen LeRoy led the way for the Nighthawks finishing with a time of 23:31.40. 
 
Val Angel finished in fifth place overall and second on the team, recording a time of 23:38:00. Claire Mills and Emily McBride secured the win by finishing one second apart in sixth and seventh. Anna Chasteen rounded out the top five runners for UNG with a time of 24:25.50
 
Wingate's Grace Burrell won the individual title, finishing with a time of 23:09.80; fellow Peach Belt member Augusta finished in second as a team with a team score of 37, five points behind North Georgia.
 
In North Georgia's three victories this season, three different Nighthawks have led the team across the line. Val Angel, Emily McBride and now Karmen LeRoy have each finished first for the team in each of its wins.
