Adam Daum Named UNG Head Athletic Trainer

DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Adam Daum as the next Head Athletic Trainer Thursday afternoon.

Daum comes to Dahlonega after a six-year stint at Point University where he served in the same position for the last five years. In addition to overseeing the athletic training for the Skyhawks' 19 athletic programs, he also worked as a tactical athletic trainer for the West Point Police Department for two years.

"I am extremely excited to join the UNG family and getting fully involved with the Nighthawk athletic department," stated Daum. "I am looking forward to working with both the coaches and student-athletes in providing a first-class model of care for our 13 programs."

Prior to his time at Point, Daum obtained his master's degree in teaching with a concentration in physical education from West Alabama where he also served as a graduate assistant in the athletic training department. He also served as a department intern in sports medicine at Emory in the spring of 2013.

"We are excited for Adam to take the reins of the UNG Sports Medicine program," said Derek Suranie, Associate Athletic Director, Internal Operations. "He has clearly demonstrated an ability to lead a team and provide the highest level of healthcare to his student-athlete population."

Daum earned his Bachelor's degree in athletic training from Valdosta State as a graduate in the class of 2013. He is a member of the National and Georgia Athletic Trainers' Associations.

Daum will start his tenure at North Georgia August 9.
