CLEVELAND, Tenn. - University of North Georgia track & field athlete
Bree Hammond beat the NCAA provisional mark for the 3000 meter steeplechase Saturday at the Lee University Last Chance Meet. Hammond ran a 10:37.25 race, shattering the school record in the process.
Hammond beat the provisional mark by 22 seconds and the UNG record by 31 seconds, finishing third in the race.
Also in the meet,
Abigail Kirkland ran a 24.46 200 meter sprint, taking the second best time in program history in a third place finish.
Journey Gurley cleared 4.16 meters in the pole vault for a third place finish behind two unattached vaulters.
While Gurley has automatically qualified for the pole vault, Hammond and Kirkland will now wait on the NCAA selections to come out on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to see if they will be headed to Allendale, Michigan.
