CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) track team closed out the regular season Friday at the Catamount Classic, turning in several solid performances ahead of the postseason.
In the middle-distance events, Aubrey Dishman led the Nighthawks with a ninth-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:18.58. Katie Harper added a time of 2:28.24, while Emma Morrow (2:57.61) and Elizabeth Padilla Brun (3:08.80) also competed.
Ahna Hicks paced North Georgia in the 1500 meters, finishing 16th in 4:54.72, while Natalie Long placed 17th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.68.
In the distance events, Jordan Starling posted a ninth-place finish in the 5000 meters at 18:45.57, with Erin O'Brien taking 16th in 19:03.90.
The Nighthawks saw a strong showing in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing three runners in the top nine. Tessie Braman led the group with a seventh-place finish in 12:22.25, followed by Harleigh Smith in eighth (13:02.55) and Teagan Lamp in ninth (13:16.29).
North Georgia's 4x400-meter relay team of Dishman, Long, Hicks and Katelyn Harper capped the meet with a sixth-place finish, posting a time of 4:09.30.
The Nighthawks return to action May 1-2 at the Peach Belt Conference Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida.
