DAHLONEGA - The No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team got back in the win column, snapping a three-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel Tuesday afternoon at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
GAME ONE - #2 UNG 6, EC 0
Olivia Sinquefield got the Nighthawks on the board early with a two RBI single in the bottom of the first with the bases loaded.
Margaret Simmons kept the scoring going an inning later with a solo homer to left field that gave UNG a 3-0 lead.
North Georgia didn't get back on the board until the sixth inning when
Madison Simmons hit a sacrifice fly to center that plated
Mariah Wicker. Sinquefield then stepped up to clear the bases with a two RBI single back up the middle to get to the 6-0 final score.
Laken Chambers (7-0) earned the win, going six innings of four hit shutout softball, striking out four Lions.
GAME TWO - #2 UNG 2, EC 0
In much more of a pitcher's duel, the Nighthawks struck first in the bottom of the first on a
Gracie Mixson RBI single. The Nighthawks plated their final run of the day in the fourth as
Janie Henderson stole home to give UNG a two-run advantage, enough for
Tybee Denton and
Abbie Crawford to combine for the shutout.
Denton (4-2) got the win in 5.1 innings, striking out six and allowing just three hits and a walk. Crawford earned her first save of the season with 1.2 innings of work and just one hit and one walk issued.

Margaret Simmons went 3-for-6 in the twinbill with three runs scored and a RBI.
- North Georgia improves to 20-4 on the year.
- The Nighthawks dropped a spot in the NFCA Top 25 poll to No. 2, receiving four of a possible 16 first place votes.
