DAHLONEGA - Pitching highlighted the day for the No. 2 University of North Georgia softball team as the Nighthawks swept Georgia Southwestern Sunday afternoon at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. 
GAME ONE - #2 UNG 2, GSW 0
Kylee Smith set the career strikeout record at UNG with her seventh strikeout of the day, fanning Shannon Gibson in the fifth inning on three straight pitches.
North Georgia scored both of their runs in the second inning, scoring on a bases loaded hit by pitch and a 
Margaret Simmons sacrifice fly.
Smith improved to 8-2 on the year, striking out nine Hurricanes along the way.
GAME TWO - #2 UNG 8, GSW 0 (5 inn.)
Tybee Denton improved to 4-2 on the year, tossing a no-hitter while allowing just two walks and a hit batter.
The bats for North Georgia got hot in the third inning as 
Olivia Sinquefield tripled down the right field line to plate two runs before coming home to score on another Simmons sacrifice fly.
The Nighthawks then scored five runs in the fourth inning, using a 
Shelby Hammontree triple, a Sinquefield single, a Simmons two-run homer and a 
Kaylyn Anthony single to reach the eight run margin.
NOTES
- Simmons went 4-for-5 in the doubleheader with four RBI.
- Smith broke the previous record of Courtney Poole for career strikeouts at UNG and now sits at 1,158 strikeouts in her illustrious career.
