HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Tybee Denton threw a no-hitter in the second half of Thursday's doubleheader as the third ranked University of North Georgia softball team split with No. 13 Alabama Huntsville.
GAME ONE - #13 UAH 5, #3 UNG 3
After the Chargers broke open the scoring in the second with a solo homer, the Nighthawks took the lead in the fourth with a two RBI single from 
Kaylyn Anthony. UAH retook the lead in the bottom of the frame on a RBI single and a Nighthawk error, but North Georgia responded in the fifth to tie the game off a 
Margaret Simmons solo homer.
The Chargers got the game-winning RBI single in the sixth to plate the final two runs, but North Georgia had an opportunity to score in the seventh, loading up the bases before UAH worked out of the jam.
GAME TWO - #3 UNG 10, #13 UAH 0 (5 inn.)
Shelby Hammontree got things started in the top of the first with a solo homer that was followed up with a 
Gracie Mixson RBI double that gave the Nighthawks an early 2-0 lead. Hammontree kept it going in the second with another bomb, this one a two-run shot, and two batters later, Simmons hit a two-run bomb that gave UNG a 6-0 lead.
After scoring on a wild pitch in the third, Hammontree batted in her fourth run of the game on a single to left before 
Georgia Blair homered in the fourth to bring the game to its 10-0 score.
Denton (5-2) took the win, allowing just four walks. She struck out three along the way.
NOTES
- Hammontree finished the doubleheader 5-for-7 with two runs scored and four RBI. She is now just three homers away from tying the program record for a career.
- The Nighthawks continue to hold a one-game advantage in the all-time series, 12-11, after the split.
