Baseball Takes Down Georgia Southwestern, 11-8

AMERICUS, Ga. - Six University of North Georgia baseball players had multi-hit games as the Nighthawks took the final game of the Peach Belt series from Georgia Southwestern Sunday, 11-8.

For the third time this weekend, North Georgia struck in the top half of the first inning, this time off a Bill LeRoy RBI single that plated two, but GSW answered with a run on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 2-1. The Nighthawks went on to score off a passed ball in the second, a Nik Levensteins RBI double and Will Hardigree RBI single in the third and a three-run homer from Jake Howard in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-1.

The 'Canes trimmed the lead down to two after the seventh inning stretch, plating five runs in the bottom of the seventh. North Georgia responded with a three-run eighth, fueled by a Howard RBI bunt single, a Crews Taylor RBI single and a bases loaded walk to get to an 11-6 advantage. A pair of RBI singles in the eighth was all GSW could get as the Nighthawks claimed the win.

NOTES
