ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The top ranked University of North Georgia softball team started off Peach Belt play undefeated with a sweep of Flagler Monday afternoon.
GAME ONE - #1 UNG 2, Flagler 0
The Nighthawks got the first run of the day across in the third inning as
Margaret Simmons singled back up the middle to score
Kaylyn Anthony.
Shelby Hammontree pushed the game's final run across in the sixth on a double down the line in left.
Kylee Smith (4-0) pitched a one-hitter, fanning 16 batters along the way.
GAME TWO - #1 UNG 8, Flagler 0
The bats came alive in the second half of the twinbill as the Nighthawks pushed two runs across in the fourth. Anthony hit a sacrifice fly to plate

Olivia Sinquefield on a single to right center.
UNG used a couple Saint errors in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-0 before the inning continued with a Sinquefield double down the line in right and a Simmons single capped off a five run fifth, pushing the lead to 7-0. The Nighthawks got the eighth run of the game in the seventh on a Simmons double to left center.
Laken Chambers (5-0) earned the win in six shutout innings while allowing just three hits.
NOTES
- Simmons went 4-for-9 with four RBI while
Gracie Mixson went 3-for-5 at the plate.
- North Georgia stole nine bases on the day.
