COLUMBUS, Ga. - Megan Dumond broke through midway through the second half as the No. 22 University of North Georgia women's soccer team took down seventh-ranked Columbus State, 1-0, at the Walden Soccer Complex Thursday night.
In the 69th minute,
Taylor Malasek fed a pass to Dumond, who fired her shot past the Cougar keeper. After
Morgan Ramby stopped two CSU shots in their tracks, the Nighthawks had a chance to extend the lead on a penalty kick that Columbus State saved to keep the game at 1-0.
Columbus State pressed forward in the final moments but the Nighthawk defense held strong to hold the clean sheet.
NOTES
- This is the first time in the series that UNG has won two straight against the Cougars. It is the third straight win North Georgia has had in Columbus.
- Ramby made five saves on 10 Cougar shots to claim the clean sheet.
- North Georgia improves to 5-1 on the season.
