DAHLONEGA - No. 15 Union University advanced to Saturday's regional semifinal with a 70-65 win over Montevallo Friday evening in the opening round of the NCAA Division II South Regional inside the UNG Convocation Center.
The game was back-and-forth the entire way with neither team leading by double figures. Montevallo held the early advantage before Union took the lead and led the entirety of the second half.
Union was led by Shanique Lucas's 27 points, while Jaelencia Williams put up 16 points and 21 rebounds. Kiya Sain led the Falcons with 22 points.
Union will advance to take on No. 3 North Georgia at 5 p.m. Saturday evening in the regional semifinal.
