Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 15 Women's Basketball Overcomes Slow Start to Defeat GSW, 73-48

DAHLONEGA - A balanced scoring attack, coupled with great defense, was the difference as the No. 15 University of North Georgia women's basketball team stayed perfect inside the friendly confines of the UNG Convocation Center with a 73-48 win over Georgia Southwestern Wednesday evening.

North Georgia missed its first 11 shots from behind the arc, resulting in a back-and-forth affair that saw GSW up by as many as three on multiple occasions. The Nighthawks finally broke the 0-for-11 streak with a Josie Earnhardt long ball with just 41 seconds left until halftime.

From there, the Nighthawks went on a 15-3 run in the third period to extend their lead to as many as 25 points before the game came to a close.

NOTES
- UNG had eight players score either eight, nine or 10 points, led by Abbie Franklin and Earnhardt as the only players in double figures. Kara Groover was on the doorstep of a triple-double, finishing with eight points, nine boards and seven assists.

- The Nighthawks assisted on 16 of the 23 made baskets on the night.

- North Georgia shot 21-for-31 from the free throw line, while GSW was 10-for-19.

NEXT UP
