DAHLONEGA - Winners of seven straight overall and 33 straight at home, the No. 12 University of North Georgia women's basketball team will again compete inside the friendly confines of the UNG Convocation Center when they host Augusta Monday night. The Nighthawks will travel to Georgia Southwestern Saturday to wrap up the week.
North Georgia is coming off a week where they went 2-0 on the road, beating Clayton State in overtime, 92-82, and Young Harris, 83-63.
Julianne Sutton led the Nighthawks with a near double-double average on the week with 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest.
Augusta is 5-4 on the year and 4-1 in league play. The Jaguars did not play in the month of January after going 1-3 in December. UNG and Augusta met back on December 8 where the Nighthawks won, 87-76, as Sutton and
Abby Hubert each scored 22 points.
Georgia Southwestern is 7-4 headed into a week where they will play three times in the Storm Dome, concluding Saturday against UNG. North Georgia won the first meeting of the season, 73-48, using a very balanced scoring attack where no Nighthawk scored more than 10 points.
All home games will feature complimentary admission into the building at a first come, first serve basis up to a 10% capacity (approximately 300 fans). Nighthawks Athletic Club memberships supporting the student-athlete experience remain available with members at the All-Region and up levels granted guaranteed access to home games with reserved priority seating. Sections will now be reserved for Nighthawks Athletic Club members and guests of student-athletes.
UNG adjusted the seating configuration to adhere to social distancing in the UNG Convocation Center for the 2020-21 season, and Nighthawks Athletic Club members, UNG students and student-athlete guests will have top priority in the process. All spectators will be seated in the upper-level seats; no lower-level or courtside seating will be available this season. Rows and seats are marked with yellow stickers to maintain six feet of separation between attendees, who are not members of the same party. Masks/face coverings are required for entry into the facility and must be worn at all times while inside the arena and during any game. Any individual who does not comply with this policy will be asked to leave the facility.
