DAHLONEGA - The No. 6 University of North Georgia women's basketball team eased into the 2021-22 season with an 80-46 win over Lees-McRae on the opening day of the Peach Belt / Conference Carolinas Challenge Friday inside the UNG Convocation Center.
After conceding the opening basket of the game, North Georgia went on a 25-2 run on their way to a 27-8 score at the end of the first period. UNG outscored LMC 20-14 in the second quarter and 24-10 in the third to hold a 39 point lead after three quarters.
From there, North Georgia was able to get every player dressed out onto the floor in the fourth quarter as both teams will have quick turnarounds for Saturday's contests.

Julianne Sutton posted another double-double in her career, putting up 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Josie Earnhardt had 15 points, all behind the three-point line, while
Jamari McDavid scored 11 in 17 minutes of action.
- UNG had 11 players score in the game.
- The Nighthawks assisted on 23 of 28 made baskets in the game.
- In the first game of the challenge, Young Harris defeated Emmanuel, 71-57.
