DAHLONEGA - After leading for nearly 60 minutes, the University of North Georgia men's soccer team saw a lead slip away to No. 20 Anderson Wednesday night as the Trojans escaped with a 3-2 win over the Nighthawks.
AU found the match's first goal in the 12th minute as Alexandre Cox-Ashwood scored his first of two goals, but North Georgia answered eight minutes later as
Victor Galterio found
Gabriel Campora for the equalizer. Five minutes later, Galterio struck from distance to give UNG a 2-1 lead that would hold for nearly an hour of game time.
In the 85th minute, the Trojans' Eloy Allimadi got the ball in the box and found just enough space to shoot to the far post to tie the match only to have his teammate Cox-Ashwood give AU the lead just over 90 seconds later.
NOTES
- North Georgia has now lost four of the last five to the Trojans in the all-time series.
- Tonight was the second time that Galterio has scored a goal and recorded an assist in a single game.
