DAHLONEGA - A Ty-Kella Goins RBI double in the third inning was the only scoring of the game as the No. 9 University of North Georgia softball team fell to No. 7 Lincoln Memorial in the final game of a three-game weekend against the Railsplitters Sunday at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Cottrell Park.
The third inning for LMU began with a walk to Bella Buccellato, who stole second, allowing her to be in scoring position for Goins' double. The Nighthawks got a runner to second in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, but could not find a way to bring that runner around to tie the game.
NOTES
-
Kylee Smith (10-2) was tabbed with the loss despite striking out 10 in her four innings of work. She gave up the only run off one hit and one walk.
- North Georgia had just five hits and drew two walks. All seven of those runners were left on base.
- Prior to the start of the game, UNG postponed their trip to Alabama Huntsville scheduled for Tuesday due to inclement weather forecasted for the early parts of this week.
