No. 17 Women's Basketball Survives Upset Bid Against UNCP

DAHLONEGA - Down 16 points with 7:33 to play, the No. 17 University of North Georgia women's basketball team finished the game on a 28-8 run to defeat UNC Pembroke, 66-62, Saturday afternoon in the Convocation Center.

The Braves took advantage of a 25-10 second quarter where the Nighthawks went 1-for-9 from the floor and 0-for-4 from distance. UNCP was able to keep their lead in the third quarter and extended a 10-point lead after the third quarter to 16 with three straight buckets to start the final period.

The Nighthawks stormed back, using full court pressure to force multiple UNCP turnovers as UNG took its first lead of the second half with 59 seconds to play. North Georgia held on to the lead the rest of the way to clinch its 24th straight win inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center.
