COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 15 University of North Georgia women's basketball team jumped out to a quick 16-point lead on their way to a 72-54 win over Columbus State Wednesday evening.
After the Cougars scored the first basket of the game, UNG answered with an 18-0 run. CSU cut the lead down to as few as six in the latter stages of the first half, but North Georgia answered each time to keep the game at a three-possession game going to halftime.
The Nighthawks quickly stretched the lead back to double figures in the second half, pulling away to as many as 20 down the stretch.

Kara Groover notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while
Julianne Sutton led the way with 19 points.
Abbie Franklin contributed 13 points.
- The Nighthawks hit seven three-pointers, while Columbus State did not hit a shot outside of the arc.
- UNG had 22 points off 19 Cougar turnovers.
