DAHLONEGA - No. 8 Georgia College scored the game's final four runs, including three in the 11th inning, as the Bobcats took down the No. 20 University of North Georgia baseball team, 7-4, Friday night at Bob Stein Stadium at Cottrell Park.
GC got on the board first in the third when Cassius Young belted a ball over the left field wall, scoring three runs. The Nighthawks started chipping away at the lead in the fourth, scoring a single run off a
Jake Arnold sacrifice fly.
North Georgia took the lead in the fifth inning, using a pair of RBI doubles from
Tim Conway and
Bill LeRoy, followed by a RBI single from
Brady Eeles to take a 4-3 lead. The Bobcats answered in the seventh with a Young RBI single up the middle, tying the game.
UNG had a great opportunity in the 10th inning, loading up the bases with the winning run at third, but could not push a run across, opening the door for a three-run 11th for GC, sealing the win.
NOTES
- North Georgia has lost four straight extra inning games.
- Eeles was the top hitter for UNG, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
- The Nighthawks drew 10 walks, three of which were taken by
Crews Taylor.
