No. 20 Baseball Comes Up Short to No. 8 Georgia College

DAHLONEGA - After No. 8 Georgia College jumped out to an 8-2 lead, the No. 20 University of North Georgia baseball team stormed back with four outs to play with but ultimately fell a run short of extending the game, falling 8-7 Saturday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium at Cottrell Park.

Georgia College got on the scoreboard immediately, plating two unearned runs in the top half of the first inning. The Bobcats doubled their lead in the fourth on a two run homer from Noah Mendlinger, but UNG got those two runs back in the bottom of the fifth on a Crews Taylor RBI single that cut the lead to 4-2.

After scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth, the Bobcats exploded in the eighth, pushing three more runs across to take an 8-2 lead. UNG started creeping back into the game, starting with a two-out RBI single from Nik Levensteins followed by a RBI double from Jake Arnold and a pinch hit RBI single from Cole Yancey that brought the Bobcat lead down to 8-6.

Brady Eeles hit a homer in the bottom of the ninth with two outs to keep the game alive, but Georgia College found the final out to preserve the win.
