No. 9 Softball Splits With Lee

DAHLONEGA - The No. 9 University of North Georgia softball team split a Wednesday afternoon twinbill with Lee, winning game one before falling in extra innings in the second game.

GAME ONE - UNG 4, Lee 0
All the scoring in the first game took place in the fourth inning. After reaching on an error, Madison Simmons came home on an Olivia Sinquefield RBI bunt single. The sophomore first baseman would then come home two batters later to score UNG's second run on a RBI double from Cheyanne Mosteller.

Kaylyn Anthony would bring home Mosteller in the next at-bat on a sacrifice fly. Mariah Wicker then stepped to the plate and singled with two outs. After advancing on a wild pitch, Wicker came home on a Kaylee Womack RBI single.

Kylee Smith (10-1) earned the win, fanning 10 over the game while allowing just five base runners.

GAME TWO - Lee 3, UNG 1 (8 inn.)
The Nighthawks scored first in the fifth, using a Shelby Hammontree RBI single to push Sinquefield across and give UNG a 1-0 lead.

The Flames answered in the top of the seventh with a leadoff solo homer from Abby McKinney to knot the game up at 1-1. Lee added two more in the top half of the eighth, taking advantage of two infield singles to push the runs across.

NOTES
- Sinquefield was the leader at the plate for North Georgia, going 2-for-5 with two walks and two runs scored.
