DAHLONEGA - Defense has been the cornerstone of the No. 15 University of North Georgia women's basketball team, especially inside the Convocation Center, and it showed again Saturday afternoon as the Nighthawks held defending PBC Player of the Year Jessica Harris to just two free throws on the way to a 70-57 win over No. 20 Lander.
The Bearcats held a slight advantage for the first four minutes of the game before the Nighthawks went on an 11-4 run to take the lead for, what would end up being, good. The Nighthawks forced eight first quarter turnovers, contributing to the early lead.
From there, UNG kept the defensive gameplan, holding Harris to an 0-for-9 shooting performance from the floor en route to the win.
