VALDOSTA, Ga. - Bree Hammond finished in third place as the University of North Georgia cross country team put its five runners in the top eight as they finished second in the Border Clash XC Meet Friday night at Freedom Park.
Hammond ran a 19:17 to lead UNG in the race, finishing 30 seconds behind Tampa's Aspen Gordon who won the race.
Karmen LeRoy was the second Nighthawk to cross the line, running a 19:29 and finishing in fifth place.
North Georgia also had runners cross in sixth, seventh and eighth place with
Aleah Johnson (19:37), Sarah Bucker (19:47) and
Maria Coughlin (19:54) rounding out the counting runners for UNG.
Tampa finished as the meet champion after having two runners pace the field. Flagler finished in a distant third, followed by Valdosta State and Georgia College.
North Georgia will now turn its attention to hosting the 7th Annual UNG Invitational on the Gainesville campus next weekend. The race will commence at 8:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
