CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of North Georgia cross country team finished in fifth place at the Queen City Invitational Friday evening at McAlpine Greenway.
Bree Hammond was the lead runner for the Nighthawks, finishing in 19th place overall with a 5K time of 18:45. Two seconds later,
Karmen LeRoy passed through the finish chute to finish inside the top 20.
Aleah Johnson finished in 31st place in the 317-runner field with a time of 18:53, while
Brynn Wilson (19:29) and
Elise Glorvigen (19:43) rounded out the counting runners for UNG.
James Madison won the event by 45 points over Milligan, who is ranked No. 9 in NAIA. College of Charleston finished in third, followed by Flagler and North Georgia rounding out the top five teams. Other southeast region teams in the meet were Lenoir-Rhyne (6th), Augusta (9th), Anderson (10th), Georgia College (14th), Belmont Abbey (23rd), Southern Wesleyan (26th), Coker (28th), Lees-McRae (31st) and Barton (32nd).
North Georgia will be back on the course on Saturday, October 12, at the Georgia College Bobcat Invitational. Race time is set for 9:30 a.m.
