COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 25 University of North Georgia women's soccer team won its 11th straight Peach Belt Conference opener with a 1-0 win at No. 13 Columbus State Wednesday night at the Walden Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half, North Georgia found the eventual game winner as
Abbie Crane crossed the ball in from the right side, finding
Taylor Malasek for her fourth goal of 2019. From that moment forward, the Nighthawks controlled possession and fought off every CSU attack to earn the win.
NOTES
- Columbus State falls in back-to-back games for the first time since 2015. This is the first time they have been shut out in back-to-back games since 2011.
- The Nighthawks' defense stood tall, earning their third straight clean sheet. North Georgia last had three straight shutouts in 2015.
Morgan Ramby had six saves in between the posts to keep the Cougars scoreless.
- North Georgia outshot CSU, 14-13, in the contest.
