Game Preview: The University of North Georgia women's soccer team returns to the home pitch for a Friday night matchup against Valdosta State this week as the Nighthawks look to remain unbeaten.
Promotions: In conjunction with Hunger Action Month, the women's soccer team will collect canned goods prior to Friday night's game at the entrance to the UNG Soccer Complex. The Nighthawks will then hand deliver the canned goods to a local food bank next week.

Last Week: North Georgia swept the opening week of play, downing Limestone at home, 4-1, before hitting the road to defeat West Georgia, 2-0, Saturday afternoon. Taylor Malasek led all Nighthawks with two goals on the week.
Valdosta State: Valdosta State is 0-1 after taking a 2-1 loss to Clayton State to open their 2019 season. Under third year head coach Stephen Andrew, the Blazers were picked to finish fifth in the Gulf South Conference preseason poll this year. North Georgia is 2-0 against the Blazers, defeating VSU in 2014 and 2015 by a combined score of 5-0. The Nighthawks are 24-13-3 against Gulf South teams all-time.
Statistics: The Nighthawks rank first in the Peach Belt Conference in assists per game (3.5) and total assists (7). UNG is 13th and 10th nationally in the two statistical categories through two matches played. Jazmin Adlam and Olivia Dumphy are two of six PBC players to lead the league in assists with two.
Chick-Fil-A Nighthawk of the Week: Taylor Malasek was named the first Chick-Fil-A Nighthawk of the Week as announced by the UNG Athletic Department Monday afternoon. Malasek scored twice as the women's soccer team tallied four unanswered goals to take a season-opening 4-1 win over Limestone Thursday afternoon. Malasek's brace marks the fourth time in her career that she has scored two or more goals. Through two matches, she has taken at team-best 10 shots.
