DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia tennis teams return home for the final home matches of the year, starting with a top 10 opponent in Columbus State Saturday.
Special Events and Rescheduled Match: Senior Day will be on Sunday as the Nighthawks take on Georgia Southwestern in the final home match where both teams will be in action. The women's matchup with Georgia College has been rescheduled for April 10 in Dahlonega.
Rankings: The women are currently ranked No. 12 in the nation, up two spots from a week ago.
Vaishali Jorge is the No. 15 singles player in the nation, while
Adrienne Bofinger is No. 63. Bofinger and
Emma Etelalahti are the No. 38 doubles duo in the nation. Jorge and
Holly Bennett are No. 50 in doubles action nationally. The men are now ranked No. 10 by the ITA with
Jess Jones and
Niklas Zielen earning national rankings in singles and double as well. Jones is No. 71 in the nation while Zielen is No. 75. Jones and Zielen are No. 33 in doubles action.
Last Week: The women went 2-0 last week, beating Lander and Francis Marion in league play. The men went 1-1 on the week, falling to No. 4 Lander before beating No. 27 Francis Marion, 6-1.
Columbus State Scout: Columbus State's women are No. 8 in the nation. For singles, Marleen Tilgner is No. 34 in the nation, Beatriz Lopez is No. 55 and Luise Sachs is No. 70. For doubles, Tilgner and Lopez are No. 9, Sachs and Davico are No. 17, and Lopez and Audap are No. 48. The Cougar men are No. 2 in the nation. For singles, KP Pannu is ranked No. 1, Alvaro Regaldo is ranked No. 25, Zach Whaanga is ranked No. 36 and Matei Avram is No. 73. For doubles, Whaanga and Regaldo are ranked No. 1 and Pannu and Avram are ranked No. 19.
Georgia Southwestern Scout: Georgia Southwestern's women are 7-9 on the year going into Saturday's match at Young Harris. The 'Canes are coming off of a win over Clark Atlanta earlier this week. GSW's men are 4-12 on the year and are winless in league play headed into a Saturday matchup with Young Harris.
