DAHLONEGA - The No. 17 University of North Georgia baseball team fell to West Georgia Tuesday afternoon, 13-3, in a matchup where the Wolves scored six runs in the first three innings.
West Georgia went up, 2-0, in the top of the first on a two run homer, but the Nighthawks answered in the bottom of the inning, using a leadoff double from
Crews Taylor and a
Bill LeRoy sacrifice fly to cut the lead in half.
The Wolves got the run back in the second and then added three more in the third to go up, 6-1, before North Georgia answered again by getting a run in the bottom of the third on a bases loaded walk. UNG scored a third run on a
Chase Sudduth RBI double in the sixth, but UWG scored the final seven runs of the game, including an eighth-inning grand slam.
NOTES
- Taylor led the Nighthawks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Five Wolves had two or more hits in the game, led by Dan Oberst who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. He finished a triple short of the cycle.
