DAHLONEGA - Steven Bower struck out 12 Bearcats as the No. 17 University of North Georgia baseball team shut out Lander Friday night, 7-0, at Bob Stein Stadium.
UNG struck first on a
Brady Eeles RBI single in the bottom half of the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Nighthawks scored twice in the third, the first coming off a
Nik Levensteins RBI single before a squeeze bunt by
Conner Corbitt brought home the third run of the game.
North Georgia scored the final four runs in the sixth inning, starting on a
Crews Taylor RBI double down the line in right field. After a Bearcat wild pitch scored
Jake Arnold, Taylor came home on a Bearcat error to make the score 6-0.
Bill LeRoy brought home the game's final run on a sacrifice fly.
NOTES
- This is the third time Bower (8-2) has had double digit strikeouts in a single game. He struck out 10 in a game twice in his career, including once this year.
- Taylor led the Nighthawks at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs and a RBI.
