DAHLONEGA - The No. 11 University of North Georgia women's tennis team won five singles matches en route to a 5-2 win over No. 39 Georgia College Wednesday in a makeup match from a rainout earlier this season.
The Bobcats took the doubles point after earning wins at the No. 2 and 3 lines in quick fashion.
Holly Bennett and
Vaishali Jorge pulled some momentum back, though, in the final doubles match to finish, winning 7-5 at the No. 1 spot.
From there, North Georgia put on a clinic at singles, winning quickly and in straight sets at Nos. 4, 6, 1 and 3, respectively.
Adrienne Bofinger, ranked No. 60 in singles play, pulled out a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 59 Emilia Richter just before Bennett clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
The match finished with two three-set marathons that went deep in the third set. Jorge fell 15-13 in her third set to give GC their lone singles point, but Claudelle Labonte Frey won 14-12 in her final set to get the fifth point of the match for UNG.
The Nighthawks will be in action at USC Aiken on Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m.
