DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia tennis teams will battle four different teams down in Florida as part of their Spring Break Trip. The week will start with a matchup against Northwood, followed by a Tuesday match against Texas-Tyler. The week will conclude with matchups against Florida Southern and Bluefield State.
Rankings: The women are currently ranked No. 13 in the nation after making a run to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 a year ago.
Vaishali Jorge is the No. 3 singles player in the nation, while
Holly Bennett is No. 39 in the nation. UNG's women's team has two nationally-ranked doubles duo.
Last Week: The women won their only match of the week last time out, defeating Carson-Newman, 6-1, back on March 2. The women's match with Georgia College has been postponed and has not been rescheduled. The men went 2-0 on the week, beating Carson-Newman, 7-0, before winning over No. 13 Georgia College, 5-2, in Peach Belt Conference play.
Northwood Scout: Northwood's men are 2-3 to open the season and are coming off a loss to Florida Southern Saturday afternoon. The Northwood women are 11-2 on the year.
Texas-Tyler Scout: Texas-Tyler's men and women are 1-4 on the season. The men will play Howard University on Monday, while the women will play Shippensburg and Providence before battling UNG on Tuesday.
Florida Southern Scout: Florida Southern's men are 4-6 after Saturday's win over Northwood. The women are 8-0 on the year and are ranked No. 9 in the nation. The Mocs will play West Chester and Wayne State before battling the Nighthawks Wednesday afternoon. Lorena Rionda is ranked No. 50 in the nation in singles action.
Bluefield State Scout: Bluefield State's men are 3-3 on the year, while their women are 0-8 to start the season. They will both play USC Aiken and Florida Tech while their men will also match up with Rollins prior to Thursday morning's match.
