GREENWOOD, S.C. - The University of North Georgia women's tennis team cruised past Lander on Saturday, sweeping the Bearcats, 7-0.
The Nighthawks didn't drop a line in the PBC match. The doubles point was won fairly comfortably; the No. 3 pairing of
Lexa Loden and
Cibeles Zuddy got UNG off to the perfect start with a 6-2 win. Senior
Emma Etelalahti then partnered
Adrienne Bofinger at No. 2 doubles to clinch the point, recording a hard-fought 6-4 win, putting the Nighthawks 1-0 ahead.
Just one set was dropped over all of the singles matches, as the women continued their dominance in league play. Freshman Claudelle Labonte Frey got off to a hot start, recording a 6-1, 6-0 win, and
Cibeles Zuddy put the Nighthawks within one point of victory, winning her match 6-3, 6-1. The match was then clinched by
Adrienne Bofinger, who cantered to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The Nighthawks move to 13-2, and will next battle Francis Marion Wednesday afternoon.
